our R&D team, we are looking for a: SENSORY SCIENTIST Job
Location:
- Welwyn, UK until June 2010,
- and
afterwards in Orbe, Switzerland.
Main Responsibilities: Manage
sensory evaluation studies
- Attend project
meetings and provide sensory support to project leaders and marketing
- Help
select and organize appropriate test methods (profile, triangle, consumer etc.)
- Analyze
and report all tests within set deadlines
- Schedule
and assign work to sensory technicians for set-up of tests
- Provide
sensory support for determination of key consumer requirements of products
Build
& maintain sensory awareness & networking - Increase
awareness of sensory tools and capabilities within CPW.
- Run
sensory training sessions for product developers, marketing & consumer insight
people
- Collaborate with other sensory groups within
CPW for global initiatives
- Maintain sensory network
between CPW, Nestle & General Mills.
Provide
sensory support to operations - Verify gold standard
product quality (through expert panel).
- Assist Operations
sensory in preparation & execution of factory training as necessary.
- Assist
with other Operations Sensory activities as necessary.
Provide
product understanding for quality compliance - Conduct,
analyze and report shelf life tests to further understand the products characteristics.
- Provide
sensory support for premium testing and monitoring of taint panel
Management
of external panels - Assist / lead planning and running
of external expert panel sessions, monitoring performance, administering feedback,
and running refresher training - as required.
- Assist
/ lead administration and motivation of panel members
Other
responsibilities
- Continuously analyze and
improve sensory capability and group effectiveness
- Assist
sensory technician and sensory scientist with testing of premiums.
- Coach
and mentor sensory technician to build their skills & increase their effectiveness
- Assist
in the standardization & calibration of sensory methodologies across CPW R&D
centers
Main Purpose of Job The
R&D Sensory Scientist is responsible for providing advice on the applications
of sensory analysis in product optimization and process improvement, for the analysis
of tests in order to meet project objectives/business goals; and for the continuous
analysis and improvement of the service provided by the sensory section. Dimensions

Required
Qualifications
- Degree in Food Science or
related science with a specialization in sensory science.
- Minimum
of 2 years experience in the sensory field, with experience in leading descriptive
analysis panels.
- Knowledge of sensory techniques
and statistics (univariate and multivariate).
- Strong
aptitude for working with PC systems, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge
of Fizz sensory software advantageous.
- English essential;
French desirable
